Jim Cuviello understands that, for every project Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions undertakes to be a success, his customers must first be fully educated on the process and what to expect from the decorative concrete.

“We make sure the customers understand what the delivered product is when we’re done,” Cuviello says. “A lot of time managing client’s expectations is as hard as doing the correct procedure. A lot of times floors are different and will turn out different.”

Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions, which opened in July 2001, predominately serves commercial clients and Cuviello works closely with general contractors and architects. While the majority of Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions’ clients are commercial, approximately 10 percent of their clientele is residential. The majority of the work that Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions does is interior.

Because of Cuviello’s background in the stone restoration business, where he polished marble and granite, he learned that concrete could be polished. He then took all of his technical knowledge about polishing and applied it to concrete.

As a result of his specialized knowledge, Cuviello began training other contractors throughout the United States and abroad – including in Korea, Spain, Canada, and Mexico – on how to effectively do the polishing process.

“Concrete Polishing and Processing Technical Institute’s goal is to bring a higher level of contractor-delivered goods to clients,” Cuviello says. “But, it’s also to educate the consumers and end users on the proper process.”

“Right now the industry is like the wild, wild west. The decorative guys are a big offender. They buy equipment for diamond abrasions just because they think they are in the decorative business they understand the technicalities involved in polishing different types of material.”

In addition to polished concrete, Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions also provides stains and dyes, concrete overlays, concrete countertops, and coatings and sealers.

The lifespan of Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions’ products, notably polished floors, depends on numerous variables, including the how well it is maintained and the materials that are being tracked in from the outside.

“The variables that affect the longevity of the polish, include: What kind of outside elements are the floors exposed to? What is the quality of the concrete? What is the maintenance cycle? What is the actual procedure that was done on the concrete?” Cuviello says.

Because the durability and lifespan of decorative concrete depends upon varying factors, Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions doesn’t offer a particular warranty, Cuviello and his team stand behind their work.

“If there is a problem and it is something that was our fault, we will stand behind it,” Cuveillo says. “If it’s a manufacturer or contractor’s defect, we’ll come in and take care of it for the life of the floor.”

Complete Decorative Concrete Solutions has developed such a solid reputation both locally and nationally that they are often approached by large, national companies. Some of the companies with which they’ve worked include Procter and Gamble, White & Turner, DuPont Chemical, Trader Joes, and Sketchers shoe store.

“A lot of these jobs weren’t jobs that we had to bid to get,” Cuviello says. “We were asked to come in because of our reputation.”
